Josh Hart is reportedly expected to decline his player option after his season, according to NBA Insider Michael Scotto, and the end result will likely be Hart signing a long-term deal with the Knicks.
"Hart has almost a $13 million player option this summer, which he's expected to decline and become a free agent," Scotto said on his HoopsHype podcast. "But fear not Knicks fans, Hart loves the fit in New York, and the Knicks want to re-sign him in free agency… I don't see him leaving.
"I see him getting either a three or four-year deal at some point once he becomes eligible."
Hart, seemingly the perfect fit for Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, is a prolific defender, an elite rebounding guard, and has shown his potential in transition during his 10 games with New York. He also has shown more of a willingness to shoot the 3-pointer, and doing so with more efficiency, just as the Knicks had hoped when they acquired him before the trade deadline.
Hart has quickly won over the hearts of Knicks fans with his consistent effort and the team's 9-1 record since he made his debut. It seems as if they will be able to cheer him on for years to come.
