Julius Randle to become first Knicks participant in 3-Point Contest in 10 years: Report

Julius Randle is reportedly going to be even busier at All-Star weekend.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Knicks All-Star will now also be participating in the NBA 3-Point Contest, replacing Portland's Anfernee Simons, who just had an MRI on his sprained ankle.

Randle would be the first Knicks participant in the event in a decade, as Steve Novak was the last to do so when he competed in 2013. Other notable participants in franchise history include Danilo Gallinari (2010), Quentin Richardson (2006), Allan Houston (2001), and Charlie Ward (1998). No Knicks has ever won the event.

Randle has improved from beyond the arc this season, but is still slightly below league average with a 3-point percentage of 33.8 percent. He shot just 30.8 percent from downtown last season, but in his Most Improved Player campaign, he shot 41.1 percent from deep.
