Julius Randle fires back at idea that Knicks' playoff hopes are dashed: 'We're not out'

The Knicks have lost six in a row, are 3.5 games back of the final play-in spot, with a tough schedule still remaining over the final 20 games of the season.

Some might consider New York cooked, especially with Derrick Rose experiencing a setback in his recovery from ankle surgery. But Julius Randle doesn't want to hear any of the negativity.

"We're not out of the play-in," Randle responded when asked if reality was setting in that the Knicks were going to fall short of the playoffs. "We're out of the play-in?"

When Randle was told the team was 3.5 back with 20 to play, he still didn't want to hear any nails being hammered into New York's coffin.

"That's out?" Randle said. "I'm more of a glass-half-full guy...we just need to win. We need a win and go from there."

The Knicks need more than a win. They need a bunch, and in a hurry. But things aren't getting any easier, as Wednesday began a seven-game road trip that includes the Suns, Clippers, Mavericks, Grizzlies, and Nets, who will have Kevin Durant back in the fold. No, the Knicks aren't officially out of it yet, but in reality, it is just a delay of the inevitable, despite Randle's optimism.
