C-Mac: Maybe Julius Randle injury isn't 'death knell' to deep Knicks playoff run

The Knicks gutted out an inspiring win over the scuffling Bucks on Sunday night, storming back in the second half to pick up a much-needed victory on the road.

For C-Mac, the win for New York prompted him to recalibrate his expectations for this Knicks team without Julius Randle.

"Without Randle, we're not gonna see the best of what this team can be," C-Mac said. "We're not gonna see the team that won 16 of 19 in January, where they looked like the best team in the NBA.

"But I'm sorry, maybe I'm feeling a little better. I know they had a lousy loss, but when you look around the rest of the Eastern Conference, maybe it's not so freaking crazy to actually be a team that can make some noise. I have to admit. The Bucks lost four in a row, we all know what kind of coach Doc Rivers is…Cleveland is falling apart, the Knicks are now tied with Orlando for the three seed. If they could ever get to the third seed and take on possibly the Pacers or the Cavaliers."

Losing Randle for the year hurts in a big way, but if the Knicks could put forth that kind of effort on the road against the team currently second in the East, why can't they still make a deep run?

"Jalen Brunson is arguably playing better than any superstar in the Eastern Conference right now," C-Mac said. "As much as I still feel that the expectations have been limited without Randle…maybe I should be more optimistic about this Knicks team. Maybe I shouldn't feel like the Randle injury is some sort of death knell to the expectations we had in January."
