Julius Randle spoke to the media on Tuesday for the first time since he gave his "Shut the f--k up" comments when asked if his thumbs-down gesture was aimed at previously booing Knicks fans during the team's comeback win over the Celtics last week.
But on Tuesday, Randle made it clear that he had no interest in talking about the comment any more, nor of his apology on social media to the New York fanbase, which he released shortly before receiving a $25,000 fine for using profane language when speaking to reporters.
"I've already addressed it," Randle said bluntly when asked about his relationship with Knicks fans on Monday afternoon.
Randle, a fan favorite last season during a surprise All-Star campaign that led to a Most Improved Player award and a playoff berth for the Knicks, has had a complicated relationship with the fanbase this season, as his regression has led to boos from the crowd, and criticism for his lack of offensive production and effort level on the defensive end.
Asked if he hopes for his relationship with the fans to be amended, Randle once again repeated, "I already addressed it." Asked what his reaction was to being fined for his language when explaining why he flashed a thumbs down to the home crowd, Randle simply said, "None."
As for his lengthy Instagram post apologizing to the fans, Randle didn't seem interested in discussing that either.
"Just felt like I needed to address certain stuff that was said, or whatever it was," Randle said.
Randle had a chance to hear some cheers on Monday night, his first game at The Garden since the thumbs down incident, but instead heard more boos when he finished with just two points, his lowest output ever in a Knicks uniform. New York still won easily, but Randle still heard boos from the crowd with New York up 20.
Asked if he was frustrated with his lack of scoring and the crowd reaction, Randle again kept it blunt.
"I'm happy we got a win yesterday," Randle said.
