Julius Randle now hearing 'MVP' chants in Knicks locker room

Julius Randle has been hearing "MVP" chants at Madison Square Garden in recent weeks, as the All-Star has led the Knicks on a seven-game winning streak, and now he's hearing those chants in his own locker room.

Talking with reporters after Tuesday night's win over the Hornets, Randle was interrupted by an "MVP" chant, only this time, it wasn't from the Garden fans. It was from rookie Obi Toppin.

"MVP!" Toppin yelled, running up to Randle as he was seated and talking with reporters over Zoom. "Man, can I get some camera time? I never get camera time. The MVP is always getting the camera time."

Randle has certainly been at the forefront of the Knicks' resurgent season, putting together a campaign that will almost certainly put him in the discussion for the NBA's Most Improved Player award. As the team's top offensive threat, Randle has commanded a lot of the attention, but he offered Toppin his spot in front of the camera on Tuesday night.

"Na, you got it," Toppin laughed.

Looks like Randle will be the center of attention for the time being in New York, as he looks to lead the Knicks into home-court advantage for the postseason.
