Don't look now, but the New York Knicks are one of the hottest teams in the NBA.

With Sunday's 122-112 overtime victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, the Knicks have now won six consecutive games for the first time since March 2014 when the Knicks rattled off eight straight wins.

They have pulled to within 1.5 games of both the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks and have a two-game lead on the Miami Heat for the sixth seed.

The sixth seed is actually a very important seed this year, as the teams who finish between seventh and 10th place must compete in a play-in tournament for the final two seeds.

Julius Randle has been a major part of the Knicks' resurgence under head coach Tom Thibodeau. The veteran led the way again on Sunday, scoring 33 points and dishing 10 assists while recording five rebounds and five steals.

Randle has now scored 30 points in his last four games — the first time a Knick has done that since Carmelo Anthony, also in 2014.

Derrick Rose, whom the Knicks traded for earlier this season, scored 23 points off the bench as he continues to be a key piece of the puzzle since returning after missing a month due to COVID.

RJ Barrett continues to take a step forward his sophomore year with an 18-point game and Reggie Bullock came up with some clutch shots as he finished with 15 points and four rebounds.

The Knicks aim to make it seven in a row on Tuesday when they take on the Charlotte Hornets.
