Knicks assign Miles McBride to Westchester

With Josh Hart firmly in the Knicks' new rotation and thriving, Miles McBride has become the casualty.

The team announced Wednesday morning that the former second-round pick has been assigned to Westchester after not seeing more than four minutes of playing time over the last five games. Westchester tips off at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, so the expectation is that McBride will play in that game to get some more game action, then come back to the Knicks.

McBride, a feisty defender who hasn't shown much in the scoring department in his sophomore season, is averaging 3.3 points per game while shooting 33.5 percent from the field.

McBride came in for just one possession against the Celtics on Monday night, saw a few minutes of garbage time in a blowout win over the Pelicans on Saturday, and logged two DNPs in the previous four games before that. After acquiring Hart, Tom Thibodeau has established his new nine-man rotation to include Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, and Mitchell Robinson, with Hart, Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin, and Isaiah Hartenstein coming off the bench.

New York is back in action on Wednesday night against the rival Nets, and it is assumed McBride will be back for that game, though likely won't see much playing time, if any at all.
