Knicks defense completely shut down Mavericks: 'Probably our best defensive performance of the year'

Luka Doncic still can't figure out the Knicks at home, as the superstar's Mavericks fell to 0-4 in Dallas against New York since Doncic arrived with a blowout loss on Wednesday night.

The Knicks, longing to find the defensive efficiency that made them one of the best in the NBA last season, finally looked like their predecessor, stymying the Mavericks offense and holding it to just 77 points.


"That was probably our best defensive performance of the year, I would say," Julius Randle said.

The win for New York, which snapped a five-game winning streak for Dallas, was the team's third in a row, showing signs of life against quality opponents like the Clippers and now the Mavericks, who were held to just 34 points in the first half and a dozen in the fourth quarter.

The defense shined the brightest for the Knicks, holding the Mavericks to a season-worst 13.6 percent clip from downtown after forcing Dallas to miss an unbelievable 19 straight triples to start the game.

Another bright spot for the Knicks was the main catalysts behind the team's backcourt defense, with youngsters Immanuel Quickley and Miles McBride shining on the defensive end. Quickley was a game-high +28, while McBride was a +19 in his 22 minutes of work.
