Gio felt good about the Knicks' chances heading into their second-round series against the Heat, but after four games, he is convinced that the series is over, and probably not going back to Miami.
"The Knicks don't have a shot," Gio said. "They don't have a shot to beat Miami. They're not gonna come back. This series is over.
"In the fourth quarter, they basically tapped out. They got pushed around, they didn't get an offensive rebound, the Heat just grinded them right out of the game. I'd be shocked if they won on Wednesday night to keep this series going…outside of six minutes in game two without Jimmy Butler, Miami has made fools of the Knicks."
All the talk leading into the series was about the rekindling of a once heated NBA rivalry, and Knicks legends of the past like Patrick Ewing and John Starks, the faces of the old Knicks/Heat rivalry, have been in attendance at MSG for the first two games of this series. But Gio says that's where the parallels end.
"Talks of this team being like the 90s Knicks…it's a joke right now," Gio said. "The 90s Knicks are probably sick to their stomachs watching this garbage, as the Heat, one of their biggest rivals, is kicking their ass on national television every night."
