In just over a week, NBA teams will be able to trade players who signed new contracts this past summer, and the Knicks are reportedly ready to get to work.
According to The Athletic’s Fred Katz, New York has already begun discussing Immanuel Quickley, Derrick Rose, Evan Fournier, and Cam Reddish in potential trades, with all of them aside from Quickley no longer a part of Tom Thibodeau’s nine-man rotation.

Fournier, who hasn’t played in weeks, has two years left on his four-year contract that looks like a bust for the Knicks at this point, but Katz notes that the Knicks do not seem willing to attach draft picks to make Fournier more enticing to other teams. However, they are reportedly willing to attach Quickley or Reddish to a deal with Fournier to help make it happen, and help free themselves of the nearly $37 million they owe Fournier over the next two years.
Quickley, who is eligible for an extension after this season, has struggled shooting at times this season, but the Knicks have been a far more efficient team when he is on the court this season, particularly on the defensive end (they entered December as the top-rated defensive team in the NBA when Quickley is on the floor). Still, they seem set on freeing up space with a plethora of guards in the mix, and Quickley could become a casualty.
