Knicks featured in multiple headline games as NBA begins schedule release

The NBA has released some of its headline schedule dates for the upcoming season, and the Knicks make appearances in nearly all of them.

The 2025-26 season will open on Tuesday, Oct. 21 with a doubleheader including the defending champion Thunder hosting the Rockets before the Warriors visit the Lakers. On Oct. 22, the first slate of ESPN games will take place, and the Knicks get things started with a 7:00 p.m. tip against the Cavaliers, last year’s No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. That game will mark head coach Mike Brown’s New York debut.

The league also released its Christmas Day slate, and the Knicks have their seemingly annual slot as the noon game, playing host to Cleveland. Clearly, the NBA believes the Knicks and Cavs will be battling it out for Eastern Conference supremacy this year, especially with the Celtics and Pacers operating without their stars in Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton, both of whom are recovering from Achilles surgeries.

New York also gets a home game on Martin Luther King Day, hosting Cooper Flagg and the Mavericks at 5:00 on Monday, Jan. 19. That game can be seen on NBC and Peacock, as the network returns to broadcasting NBA games as part of a new agreement with the league.

The full NBA schedule will be released this week.
