The reported new general manager for the Hawks is a familiar face for Knicks fans.
Landry Fields, Atlanta’s assistant GM, is being promoted, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, continuing a quick rise up the front office ranks since concluding his five-year playing career that began in New York.

Per Wojnarowski, the promotion will go into effect on July 1, when the former Knick will begin competing with his former team for free agents during the summer.
The Knicks drafted Fields in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft, and he put together a promising rookie campaign when he made 81 starts and shot 39.3 percent from beyond the arc. But he was out of New York after his second season with the team, and played three seasons with the Raptors before shifting to the front office, breaking in with the Spurs before arriving in Atlanta.
