Knicks rule Julius Randle out against Hawks with sore quad tendon

Julius Randle won't be on the court for the Knicks when they desperately fight to keep their slim playoff hopes alive on Tuesday night.

New York announced Tuesday morning that Randle is out against the Hawks, the team occupying the final play-in spot, due to a sore right quadriceps tendon. Randle had previously missed just two games all season.

Randle is coming off three straight poor shooting performances, including shooting just 6-for-21 from the field and 1-for-6 from downtown in Sunday's loss to the Jazz. Over his last three contests, Randle is shooting 28 percent from the field and 11 percent from beyond the arc.

With New York trailing Atlanta by five games with 11 to play, a loss Tuesday would all but guarantee a playoff-less season, if that hasn't been guaranteed already.
