Knicks president Leon Rose has been noticeably absent from talks with media since taking his position with the franchise, and that will continue, even after the trade deadline.

Fred Katz of The Athletic reported on Friday night that New York will not make Rose available to reporters to speak following the team’s deadline activity, which included trading Cam Reddish to Portland for Josh Hart, while hanging on to potential trade candidates like Evan Fournier, Derrick Rose, and Obi Toppin. Katz said multiple requests were filed for a press conference, but to no avail.

Rose has yet to speak to media since 2021.

Team executives normally talk with reporters after the trade deadline. For example, Nets general manager Sean Marks spoke with reporters shortly after Kevin Durant was traded earlier this week, and most other teams followed a similar procedure.

The Knicks were criticized this past offseason for their handling of press conferences to bring in new free agent signings, as they were instead not press conferences at all, but instead an interview with MSG Network broadcast on the channel. Many felt it was a way for Rose to dodge questions about the team’s pursuit of Donovan Mitchell during the summer, but there still hasn’t been an opportunity to ask questions about that, or anything else going on with the franchise since Rose last spoke.
