Knicks center Mitchell Robinson underwent surgery on Monday to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. No timetable was given for his return, and coach Tom Thibodeau said it was "unclear" – but it is possible that he may be done for the season.
"With losing Mitch, it's just like tough, you know what I'm saying. We work out together and you understand the things that he puts into the game. And to lose that, he got hurt, we don't even know how long he's going to be out for now," Taj Gibson said Monday after shootaround. "I'm still trying to register that. I'm going to let the guys upstairs handle what they have to handle. But right now just trying to keep the team together, keep the emotions down, knowing that we just lost a big part of our team to a real tough injury.''
Robinson missed 15 games earlier this season after fracturing his hand, and was in his fourth game back when he fractured his foot on Saturday night. The big man averaged 8.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in 31 games this season.
