The Knicks, desperately trying to put together a run, are now without two key pieces in RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin.
After it was announced on Saturday that Toppin has entered the NBA's health and safety protocols, the Knicks announced Sunday that Barrett joined him, meaning both must be out for 10 days or register two negative PCR tests within 24 hours of each other before being allowed to resume basketball activities.
If Barrett and Toppin are unable to produce two negative tests, they could miss at least five games. Beginning with the Bucks on Sunday, the Knicks play the Warriors, Rockets, Celtics, Pistons, Wizards and Hawks, all in the next week.
Barrett, who recently enjoyed a career night after breaking out of a shooting slump while battling a stomach bug, is averaging 15.1 points per game this season. Toppin, one of the team's most valuable bench pieces, is averaging 8.7 points and 3.9 reounds.
