Sal opened Thursday's show doubling down on his belief that the Knicks, despite being in the midst of an exciting season, are simply not good enough to end their title drought this year.
"This has nothing to do with the results of the last four games, or last night's game," Sal said after New York dropped its fourth straight on Wednesday night. "The Knicks, however, are not a championship team.
"We can get excited and hopeful for getting guys back and what they can do in the postseason…they have a chance to get to the Eastern Conference Finals. The reality is, they're not as good as the Celtics, and they're not as good as anybody in the West. The Knicks are not a championship team right now."
Sal wasn't sure if the Knicks could win it all back when they were at full strength, but as they battle an unprecedented amount of injuries to key players, he is more certain that this isn't the year.
"Everything has to go right for this team to be a championship team, and it didn't," Sal said. "First, Randle went down…then Anunody went down…it's multiple things."
