Sal: Knicks fans that think team doesn't need Julius Randle in playoffs are in for 'rude awakening'

Sal has loved the fight in the Knicks despite being dealt awful injury luck, and as he watches New York grind its way up the Eastern Conference standings, he can’t help but wonder where the team would be if they were at full strength.

Mainly, if Julius Randle hadn’t been ruled out for the season to undergo shoulder surgery.

“Man, if he were here, I feel like the Knicks could take this thing all the way to the NBA Finals and potentially win a championship,” Sal said. “If Julius Randle were healthy and a part of this…I would feel like the sky is the limit for this team.

“I’m not putting a ceiling on them, but I would feel much, much better if he were there.”

BT disagreed, going as far as to say that the Knicks are in better shape for a deep playoff run with Randle on the shelf. As callers chimed in agreeing with BT, Sal warned that such a mindset could set the table for big-time disappointment, and major regret that Randle wasn’t healthy for a second straight postseason.

“You guys are in for a rude awakening,” Sal said.
