Nothing seems to be going right for the Detroit Lions this season.
A week after losing to the Baltimore Ravens on a record-breaking 66-yard field goal, the Lions once again managed to do something that no one has probably ever seen before on a football field — and not in a good way.
During the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Bears, quarterback Jared Goff was making an adjustment at the line of scrimmage when the ball was snapped prematurely.
The ball hit Goff in the shoulder and landed in the hands of Bears defensive lineman Bilal Nichols for one of the most bizarre turnovers you’ll see in a game.
The official ruling on the field was a fumble charged to Goff.
It was a costly turnover, too. The Lions were on the Chicago 8-yard line while trailing 7-0 and the Bears managed to go down the length of the field in just six plays to capitalize on the turnover and extend their lead to 14-0.
Hey, at least it was not as bad as the buttfumble.
