McMonigle: Don't be mad at Dodgers, be mad at Yankees and Mets for leaving roster holes

The Dodgers refuse to stop spending, as they continued to bolster their now stacked bullpen by signing Kirby Yates on Tuesday.

So far, the reigning champions have signed Yates, Tanner Scott, Blake Snell, and Roki Sasaki, brought back Teoscar Hernandez, and extended Tommy Edman. Meanwhile, the Yankees and Mets have clear roster needs that have not been addressed, and Chris McMonigle says any New York fans frustrated with LA’s spending spree should direct their frustration at their own teams.

“The Yankees are in desperate need of a third baseman, another bat in this lineup, and we await the trade of Marcus Stroman because they wont do anything until they get his money off the books, while we’re staring at DJ LeMahieu as the starting third baseman,” C-Mac said.

“The Mets and Pete Alonso are holding firm while they know they need another bat to stabilize the team...why can’t the Mets pony up a little more to get Pete Alonso? Why aren’t they in on Tanner Scott? Why aren’t the Yankees addressing third base? Meanwhile, the Dodgers are signing everyone.”

The Dodgers are doing what every fanbase wishes their team would do, and C-Mac says the Yankees, who lost to LA in the World Series, and the Mets, who fell to them in the NLCS, aren’t keeping up and showing that same commitment to building championship-worthy roster.

“The payroll is up to almost $380 million, and when you add in the luxury tax, it’s gonna be like $470 million...and you know what? I don’t care,” C-Mac said. “I’m not gonna scream...and I’m not gonna call them anything other than the most successful, most willing to win organization in the sport. That’s what they are.

“I’m not mad at them. You know who I’m mad at? The rest of Major League Baseball that doesn’t want to spend money.”
