The Mets made four selections on Day 1 of the 2022 MLB Draft, and now have seven more on Day 2 as Rounds 3-10 come prior to the Home Run Derby on Monday night. Check out capsule profiles of all seven Mets picks below:

Round 3 (No. 90 overall): RHP Brandon Sproat, Florida
As a redshirt sophomore in 2022, Sproat led all Gators hurlers with 89 2/3 innings pitched, and was 9-4 with a 3.41 ERA and 82 strikeouts. Per MLB.com, Sproat “has four pitches all coming from a prototypical 6-foot-3 frame. His fastball averaged over 97 mph with Team USA and touched 99-100, though it gets hit harder than it should. His slider and curve are distinct pitches, with the former the better offering, a hard, 85-88 mph wipeout power breaking ball that misses bats, while the curve is a softer get-me-over option. He has solid feel for a changeup as well, but one of the biggest things that has held Sproat back has been his command.”
Round 4 (No. 119 overall): 3B Jacob Reimer, Yucaipa HS (Yucaipa, CA)
A high school shortstop in Cali, Reimer was always likely to move to the hot corner at the next level, and MLB.com’s scouting report notes that he has “legitimate power he can tap into, and routinely finds the barrel and makes a lot of hard contact.” The Washington commit just missed becoming Yucaipa’s first Top 100 pick of any kind since Taijuan Walker in 2010, but he may head to the pros coming off a season where he was named the Citrus Belt League’s MVP for the second straight campaign.
Round 5 (No. 149 overall): SS D’Andre Smith, USC
Bill & Ted once noted that San Dimas High School Football rules, although not so much in baseball, as Smith was not drafted out of that school in 2020. Smith played 13 games as a freshman but spent time in the Appalachian League last summer and blossomed as the Trojans’ everyday SS this past season, hitting .286/.380/.471 with eight homers and 23 RBI in 52 games as a draft-eligible sophomore. MLB.com projects him to be more of a second baseman at the next level due to his arm.

Round 6 (No. 179 overall): RHP Tyler Stuart, Southern Miss
Stuart is a fourth-year redshirt sophomore, as he redshirted in 2019 then again in 2020 due to Tommy John surgery. The 6-foot-9 righty had a 3.38 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 40 innings this spring, and won the Eagles’ clincher against LSU at the Hattiesburg Regional. Per MLB.com, Stuart “throws two- and four-seam fastballs that range from 93-98 mph. He does a better job of landing his mid-80s changeup than his slurvy low-80s slider, and his command is fringy, so he doesn't dominate as much as his velocity might suggest he should.”
Round 7 (No. 209 overall): RHP Jonah Tong, Bill Crothers SS (Markham, ON)
The Mets go north of the border for their seventh-rounder, who played travel ball for the Toronto Mets. Per Prep Baseball Report, Tong has a fastball that sits in the high-80s and a changeup in the upper-70s. The North Dakota State commit made four appearances in the MLB Draft League earlier this summer, posting a 10.80 ERA but striking out 14 in 11 2/3 innings.
Round 8 (No. 239 overall): RHP Dylan Tebrake, Creighton
Tebrake spent the last three seasons as Creighton’s ace and was quite dominant, going 19-4 with a 2.63 ERA and striking out 204 in 192 innings. He also pitched for Frederick in the MLB Draft League last summer, allowing just one run in 11 innings.
Round 9 (No. 269 overall): 3B Chase Estep, Kentucky
Estep hit .302 with 13 homers, 49 RBI, and 16 stolen bases in 2022, his third season with the Wildcats but first as their true starting third baseman.
He has also played second base as well, with a couple of appearances at first base and in right field.
Round 10 (No. 299 overall): LHP Zebulon Vermillion, Arkansas
Vermilion spent five seasons at Arkansas, going 10-1 with a 3.58 ERA in 71 appearances, all but six in relief. In 2022, he had a 2.38 ERA in 26 1/3 innings.
