Make it two New York players gone to Los Angeles on Monday, and three overall to leave the Big Apple for Anaheim.
The Los Angeles Angels announced that they have signed former Mets LHP Aaron Loup to a two-year deal with an option for 2024, leaving a big hole in the Mets' bullpen.
Per the New York Post's Joel Sherman, Loup either $17.5 million or $22.5 million on the deal: $7.5 million in 2022 and 2023, with a $7.5 million option/$2.5 million buyout for 2024.
Loup, 33, posted a 0.95 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 56 2/3 innings across 65 appearances last year, including a 0.40 ERA (two runs in 45 1/3 innings) in his final 50 appearances. Loup became the first player in Mets history to have a sub-1.00 ERA with at least 20 innings pitched.
The lefty follows Noah Syndergaard, who signed a one-year, $25 million deal last week, as the second ex-Met headed to the Angels this year. The other New Yorker who headed west Monday is Tyler Wade, who was traded from the Yankees to the Halos for cash or a PTBNL.
