So as Jerry filled in for Boomer Friday, he was, for a change, not as doom and gloom as the Jerry Recco character, thinking that this Mets season won't be as big of a disaster as we think.
And then Chris from Cranford called in with his story of talking to a Mets ticket rep yesterday.
"I got a call yesterday from Mets ticket sales, because I've been a season plan owner, but I decided not to do it this year because the product won't be that good," Chris said. "There are players out there that they can get right now, and they're not doing it – and they're not signing Pete Alonso, so I told her, hashtag this: no Pete, no seat."
And then, the analogy of the year:
"I told her that I felt like it's a man and a woman getting together, the woman is the fans and Steve Cohen is the man, and it's all going well, and they get into bed, and after like one minute, the woman is like, 'that's it?'" Chris said. "That's how I feel about Steve Cohen: there was a big pop, and then he was a two-pump chump, and he's not getting the job done."
No wonder why Al Dukes put this call through, but Feel Good Friday Jerry was there to pick up the pieces.
"Chris, I promise you it will get better, it will," Jerry said. "He tried it on way, and it failed – they won 101 games, but they lost in the postseason – and it failed badly last year by pending a lot of money on aging pitchers, but he's taking a step back and trying to do it a different way. I don't think Steve Cohn has been this successful in life by being dumb, I really don't."
