Billy Eppler on Mets offseason: 'I wouldn't say we're completely done'

The Mets have officially introduced three of their big free agent signings in the past week, from Brandon Nimmo to Kodai Senga and now Justin Verlander on Tuesday.

That is in addition to signing Jose Quintana and Edwin Diaz earlier in the offseason.

But general manager Billy Eppler suggested that the offseason additions may not be over just yet.

"I wouldn't say we're completely done, but we'll be opportunistic on the things we're able to do," Eppler told reporters at Verlander's introductory press conference. "Hopefully there will be a couple things that get announced in the near future."

The Mets, as told by owner Steve Cohen, were in on Carlos Correa with an offer of $300 million, so the team is clearly not deterred from potentially making another big splash. But with most big-splash names now off the board, Eppler estimates that any further moves may be "smaller" than some of the ones the team has already made this winter.

"I think a lot of the moves are gonna be on the margins right now," Eppler said. "And kind of rounding out some of the main acquisitions we've made thus far."
