Bo Bichette is staying in Queens in 2027.
According to multiple reports, the infielder is opting in to his player option for next season, confirming he will remain a Met for at least another season. Bichette will earn $42 million in 2027.
The 28-year-old arrived in Queens with plenty of hype, the centerpiece of the team’s offensive revamp following his pennant-winning season with the Blue Jays. At the start, Bichette looked like a bust, struggling mightily at the plate through April and May. He enjoyed a torrid June but was still up and down the rest of the way, finishing the year with just 0.7 WAR and a .260 batting average, enduring career lows in several offensive categories.
Defensively, the two-time All-Star settled in nicely in his first season as a full-time third baseman.
Bichette will have another player option after next season for 2028, also worth $42 million.
