Boomer & Gio: Could Jerry wind up winning his Mets over 81.5 wins bet?

The Mets have won five of seven after sweeping the Nationals, and the offense has looked much livelier since their players-only meeting following a disastrous loss to the Dodgers.

The recent hot streak has led Gio to wonder if Jerry's bet of over 81.5 wins suddenly has a better chance of hitting this year, even if there is still a little ways to go to cash in.

"They went from 11 games under to eight games under, and it's not like the National are any good, but after the Phillies in London, they've got the Marlins for three," Gio said.

"If they were to get back to .500 and get into a conversation, this would be the time to do it."

Unfortunately, Gio isn't buying that happening, and believes Jerry won't be seeing any money from that preseason bet when it's all said and done.

"I think they're dead and this is just the ups and downs," Gio said. "I think there's gonna be way more downs for them."
