Boomer & Gio react to Mets epic comeback: 'It almost doesn't feel like real life'

It was indeed a feel-good Friday when Boomer and Gio came on the air on Friday, celebrating the Rangers' first playoff win in five years, and a Mets comeback that hadn't occurred in 25 years.

The Mets, down 7-1 in the top of the ninth against the Phillies, rallied to score seven runs and add yet another benchmark in what has been an exciting start to the season, and Boomer and Gio are eating it up.

"It was absolutely incredible to watch," Gio said. "It's very early still, but there's no doubt that there's something different and special about this team so far.

"It's just different. You see the passion and the energy. In years past, you look in that dugout and you don't know who wants to win. This year, everyone is focused and engaged and not giving up…90 percent of that is the manager."

Boomer was also singing the praises of Buck Showalter, who pushed all the right buttons in the ninth while his team once again showed a relentless fight and kept its firm grasp on the NL East lead.

"He is absolutely, 100 percent the guy," Boomer said. "The owner has already shown he's willing to spend the money…we have a real, legitimate, winning attitude, and the team is reacting to all that.

"We've got a long way to go, but three major milestones already this season…that was unbelievable."

With the way the Mets are winning, how much they're winning, and how invested ownership is in that level of winning, Gio needs someone to pinch him after years of torture.

"It almost doesn't feel like real life," Gio said.
