Boomer & Gio relive where they were when Mets completed victory for the ages

Boomer and Gio kicked off Tuesday morning’s show by trying to process the incredible Mets win they had witnessed the day before.

For Gio, it was simply one of the best wins in franchise history, a sentiment that many fans agree with after Francisco Lindor’s two-run home run in the ninth inning proved to be the game winner that sent New York to an improbable postseason berth.

“One of the biggest, greatest, most memorable home runs in Mets history,” Gio said. “It took a long time for Lindor to be beloved by all Mets fans, but it happened throughout the course of this year. You could not write a better season or story for this guy to now be one of the greats to ever wear that uniform.

“I will never forget it for as long as I live.”

For Boomer, the emotional roller coaster occurred while he was on the golf course, watching the wild last two innings unfold as he was lining up eagle putts and trying to stay composed on the fairways.

“I’m watching Edwin Diaz implode, and I’m getting pissed,” Boomer explained. “I’m just badgering Ron Darling as it’s going on. I’m so effing angry and so ticked off.

“Then Lindor hits the home run, I’m giddy on the golf course and trying to hide my giddiness…it truly was an amazing moment.”

The Lindor home run will go down as one of the great moments in franchise history, and it’s safe to say Boomer and Gio will never forget where they were when that ball left the yard at Truist Park.

“Francisco Lindor topped off his regular season in unbelievable fashion,” Boomer said. “That is MVP type stuff. This is the stuff that legends are made of. These are the kind of games we’ll always remember.”
