Boomer & Gio tired of Mets 'sideshows' after latest 'fiasco' of Hailey Welch first pitch

The Mets were front and center for all the wrong reasons on Thursday, as they dropped a home series after blowing a 5-0 lead to the A’s, after having Hailey Welch throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Many criticized the Mets for having the “Hawk Tuah” girl throw out the first pitch at a day game where young campers filled the stadium, and Boomer and Gio say it is an all-too familiar narrative around the team.

“They’ve had too many of these,” Gio said. “You can think about them every single year, there’s a day or two where you think ‘Wow, only the Mets are capable of a team like this.’ “When your team is the butt end of every joke, it’s annoying.”

Boomer can’t believe that the Mets managed to once again make something unrelated to baseball the headline, and once again, it wasn’t something to be celebrated.

“Yesterday was a fiasco. There’s just no other way to put it,” Boomer said. “When you combine the losing and the mediocrity, and you have this fiasco happening before the game, what are the Mets doing? Why do we always have to have a secondary situation that goes on around the Mets? There’s always a laughable moment. It seems like it happens religiously…what are the Mets doing?”
