Francisco Lindor was involved in a questionable call on Thursday after he was ruled to have obstructed second base in a play where the runner was seemingly out by a mile.
The second base umpire immediately made the ruling, much to the surprise of Lindor and the Mets. Fans on social media collectively rolled their eyes at the call, which could be seen more in 2024 with Major League Baseball reportedly emphasizing base obstruction penalties.
Boomer and Jerry were no different.
"This sucks…it's infuriating," Jerry said. "You're gonna call him safe in the regular season on that play? You gotta be kidding me.
"There's clearly a path to the outer half of the bag…the rule sucks."
Boomer was just as aggravated after seeing the replay.
"They have bigger bases for that reason, am I right?" Boomer said. "What are we doing here? Was it Angel Hernandez who made that call?"
