Boomer goes off on Max Scherzer's 'freaking drama' after comments of pitching through injury

Max Scherzer told the New York Post that he is "trying like hell" to avoid the IL as he is pitching through an injury, to which Boomer responded with plenty of frustration.

To sum up, Boomer has had enough with the "drama" Scherzer has brought in his Mets tenure.

"All this freaking drama. This is unbelievable," Boomer said. "He's basically saying 'Nobody cares, but I'm injured.' I kind of get his mentality and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt because he's been such a great pitcher until September of last season. But from then until now, it's been nothing but drama and poor performance.

"He got caught with alcohol and rosin and washing his hands with alcohol and swearing on his kids and all this other crap. It's been one level of drama after the next."

Boomer sees Scherzer's recent comments as laying the seeds for eventually becoming the latest Mets starter to land on the IL.

"Thus far, it has been nothing but money that was not well spent," Boomer said. "How much you wanna bet he goes on the IL? If he gets lit up [Tuesday], he's going. I feel like he's laying the groundwork for that."

Given how Scherzer has pitched to start the season, Gio says the Mets ace might as well go on the IL in hopes that he will be more productive when he returns.

"If he is going to go out there and be as bad as he was against the Tigers, then go on the IL and get healthy," Gio said. "Because you're not doing us any favors."
