BT sounds off on 'pathetic' David Peterson, says there may be no reason to watch Mets soon

Brandon Tierney can't imagine the Mets don't have an internal upgrade over David Peterson, who was knocked around once again in Monday's loss to the Nationals.

"If David Peterson is the best you have as an available option to give the baseball to, you are pathetic," BT said. "He is one of the worst pitchers I've ever seen in New York. Encompassing a month or so, he has been pathetic."

Peterson allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings of work on Monday, and has now allowed 35 runs in 39 innings of work. But with Justin Verlander back and Max Scherzer seemingly healthy, the rotation seems to be stabilizing at the top, so Tiki's concerns are much more rooted in the team's offense.

"They're not in dire pitching straits any longer," Tiki said. "The bigger issue, they need hitting. They need more consistent hitting…the run scoring is gone. You can give up three runs and still be out of the game."

Looking ahead, the Mets return home for a tough test with the Rays before welcoming the Guardians in consecutive interleague matchups. For BT, it could be a stretch that decides the season.

"You could come out of this stretch with no reason to watch the Mets anymore," BT said.
