BT & Sal: When is it time for Mets to drop Francisco Lindor in lineup?

Francisco Lindor's four-hit, two-homer day last week did not catapult him to a hot streak, as he went hitless in four at-bats on Monday night and has just two hits in his last 16 at-bats since that big day at the plate.

Lindor's season batting average is back down to .195 as he continues to labor through a slow start to 2024, leading BT and Sal to wonder when the Mets will have to consider dropping their high-priced star down in the lineup.

"You can't bench him, that's clear. I wouldn't do that either," BT said. "Against lefties, I have no problem with him being my three hitter. If you keep running him out there against righties - which is almost every night - as your three hitter…I don't know what they're doing."

Sal wouldn't do it just yet, but if he is still struggling badly at this time next week, then it will be time to have a tough discussion.

"I give him one more week. Then you have to," Sal said. "I'll give him one more week. He's shown some signs…give him another week. If he does not get it going, first week in May, you have to drop him in the order. It's killing the team! What do you want to do, wait until June when it's too late again? Can't do it."
