A caller needed a helpful Mets jinx to help ensure they would have a successful 2023, so he called in to BT for some inspiration.
Luckily for Mike, BT already believes in just the type of jinx Mike was looking for.
"Not only will the Braves win the division," BT said of the NL East. "The Braves will be at least 7.5 games in front of the Mets when it's all said and done."
Not only did BT predict an easy run for Atlanta to repeat as division champs, but he had to pause to consider whether New York would even finish in second place.
"I think the Braves will run away with this division," BT said. "But I still think the Mets will get the Wild Card."
BT hasn't been high on the Mets all season, and despite them holding a 4-1 record on their current west coast trip, the underlying numbers tell BT that his concern, and his prediction for the division, is warranted.
"The Mets are 11-7, which is solid," BT said. "Despite the record, they've got a league-worst .223 batting average, and an ERA from their starters of 4.75, which is high, and eight of their 11 wins have come against the A's and the Marlins."
