BT declares Mets are done: 'I think I'm watching a JV team play against varsity'

Sal Licata opened Wednesday’s show by declaring his faith in the Mets to respond after Wednesday’s blowout loss in game three, but Brandon Tierney believes New York’s magical ride has come to an unceremonious end.

“I wouldn’t call it an aberration when, in two of the three games, it’s 17-0…the Mets have played three games and had two games like this,” BT said of the 8-0 loss in game two, just days after a 9-0 loss in the series opener.

“If the Mets weren’t involved and I didn’t have to do this for my job, I wouldn’t watch. That’s how ugly this series is. I think I’m watching a JV team play against a varsity team.”

Aside from Mark Vientos’ grand slam in game two, the Mets have been outscored 20-1 in this series. After another lopsided loss in Queens, BT says, if you are really quiet, you can hear the season ending.

“That’s the air leaving the balloon. The Mets are done,” BT said. “The Mets are clearly inferior. I know Lindor has had amazing moments, but is he gonna do anything this series besides the one big hit? Bases loaded and he strikes out. One for 11. Alonso has been a stiff. Alvarez looks like he should be in Double-A…and Nimmo is hurt. I have great respect for Nimmo, but he might have to sit. He can’t run.”

BT doesn’t see Nimmo producing considering his plantar fasciitis injury, nor does he see Alvarez or Tyrone Taylor contributing anything offensively for the rest of the series. That will be too much to overcome, and he believes LA will be moving on to the World Series.

“They are running into a team that, if they played 10 series, they’re gonna win two,” BT said. “The Dodgers are better. They’re better in almost every single area, and the Mets have a world of issues. Last night was gross.”
