Brandon Tierney warned that Billy Eppler shouldn't listen to Friday's show, and sure enough, BT came out firing.
Amid the Mets trading David Robertson to the division rival Marlins four days before the trade deadline, BT ripped the Mets GM for his "nonsensical" decision to trade the team's only consistent reliever in the beginning of a stretch where New York will take on two of the worst teams in baseball.
"I never thought Billy Eppler was a good GM, but I'm not even sure the guy can read a calendar now," BT said. "Can somebody though, so he doesn't further destroy the team - which he's done, by the way, Billy Eppler has completely destroyed whatever remained of the season - can someone let him know the deadline is Tuesday?
"Tuesday is the day you have to make trades by. To trade your only real commodity last night is moronic."
Sal, sporting a brown paper bag over his head in embarrassment that the Mets, armed with the highest payroll in history, are now sellers, said he isn't faulting Eppler, so BT gladly dished out all the blame himself.
"I think Billy Eppler is horrendous," BT said. "If you're not gonna blame him, I will. What Billy Eppler did was so fundamentally wrong. The timeline, it's nonsensical dude. You're playing the Nats tomorrow, tonight, three more times, you're not that far out of it. that aside, you trade [Robertson] in the division, which sticks it to you a little more…and can you at least get some pitching?"
