After the Mets blew a 5-1 lead to the Yankees to drop their ninth game in their last 10, BT says it's time for their fanbase to shift expectations.
The 2023 season is no longer about wondering how the Mets stack up against the likes of the Braves, Dodgers, or Padres. It's about acknowledging that their team is one of the worst in the league.
"You need to start worrying about the Cubs, the Rockies, and the Nationals," BT said. "The Mets are a lot closer to the bottom of the NL than they are the top. It's that simple.
"I just think the Mets are a bad team. they're not a bad team with Pete, he changes things, but let's not act like they were a good team with Alonso in the lineup."
The same issues that the Mets have had all season were on display on Tuesday night, from faltering aging aces to offensive flops in big moments. With the same old problems continuing to haunt the team, BT says that's the product of a bad club.
"A bad team is one where it's easy to identify their deficiencies," BT said. "Isn't that the Mets? Just watch them play."
