After the Mets acquired back-of-the-rotation starter Adrian Houser and depth outfielder Tyrone Taylor on Wednesday, BT opened Thursday's show by ripping New York's offseason so far, especially after what was likely the most disappointing season in franchise history.
"Can somebody please explain to me what the Mets are doing?" BT said. "What are we at now, 16, 17, or 18 C-level moves? When they miss on Yamamoto - and they will - it will go down as the most pathetic, empty offseason in the history of the Mets. They are perilously close to watching a 70-something win team again, without anyone to cheer for.
"I understand it's for depth purposes and there's a place for that in the game, but can you do something that impacts the record?"
BT says the Mets need to start going after some of the top free agents left on the board to show they mean business when it comes to ensuring that a season like 2023 doesn't happen again. Instead, they have done nothing but try to improve around the margins.
"Stop wasting time on Yamamoto. He's not coming," BT said. "Get [Cody] Bellinger, get yourself [Matt] Chapman, get yourself J.D. Martinez, and sign Blake Snell.
"I'd be disgusted if I'm a Mets fan. I'd honestly be disgusted because my team stunk last year, and they've done nothing of substance so far."
