BT cannot escape the Francisco Lindor debate, as it came up again on Friday after Lindor has his first multi-hit game in two weeks during Thursday's win over the Nationals.
So, BT had to stake his claim again: Lindor is certainly a very good ballplayer, but there is an argument to be made that he's not even a top 20 player in baseball.
"Can you be a top-20 player in baseball when you've had four straight years of an OPS below .800?" BT said. "You haven't wont a Gold Glove in five years. I think he's a really good defender. He's not Ozzie Smith."
Lindor is batting just .222 on the season, though his on-base ability keeps his OPS at a more respectable .776. Still, while above average it's not superstar numbers, and it's certainly not near the production he had in Cleveland, when he was an All-Star for four straight seasons.
"Lindor is a really good player, but I'm not gonna start hanging on RBI," BT said. "In 2019, he had 74 and played a lot that year…last year was a big year, but in 2021, he missed some time and had 63 RBI.
"He's very streaky…I know people think I'm too hard on Lindor. He's good. He's really good. But please tap the brakes on this guy being a superstar."
Again, BT had to reiterate that it doesn't mean he thinks Lindor is bad by any means. He's still really good, but any talk of him as a star in the league is not warranted based on his numbers since arriving in New York.
"I really do like Francisco Lindor," BT said. "He's got great energy, it's contagious, he's a great fielder, and he's a really good baseball player."
