BT: Missing on Yoshinobu Yamamoto would be most 'pitiful, pathetic' offseason in Mets history

BT couldn't help but laugh at Sal's sudden pivot with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but he is still declaring that the Mets desperately need the Japanese star, and it would be disastrous for Steve Cohen if he isn't able to land him despite likely having the highest offer.

"If they don't get him, this is the most pitiful, pathetic offseason in the history of the Mets," BT said. "And that's saying something. There have been a lot of them."

Sal now believes the Mets would be fine without Yamamoto, and an entire offseason shouldn't hinge on one player, but BT countered that New York hasn't done anything of significance so far this offseason, and if they don't get Yamamoto, they likely will settle for stopgaps and marginal moves while kicking the can down the road to 2025.

"You'll be fine in fourth place when you win 76 games and probably trade Pete Alonso," BT said in response to Sal declaring that the Mets will be "fine" without Yamamoto. "And it's an awful season again."
