BT has been following MLB Network’s Top 100 Right Now during the offseason, and with all the Phillies and Braves names listed, he can’t help but feel somber about the Mets’ chances in the NL East in the coming years.

“I understand what Stearns is doing,” BT said. “I do see the big vision. But then you look, Spencer Strider, young, Trea Turner, young-ish, Austin Riley, stud, Matt Olson, just entering his prime, Bryce Harper.

“Big picture, that’s why I’m not incredibly bullish on the Mets 2-3 year future. This division is unbelievable.”

Atlanta has locked up its young core for years to come, while the Phillies, fresh off consecutive NLCS appearances, are never afraid to get big free agents like Turner and Harper. With that in mind, C-Mac agrees that the Mets’ quest to become a consistent contender is going to be difficult.

“[Dave] Dombrowski is going to spend money, you know that,” C-Mac said of the Phillies executive. “It’s a hard division to go win.”
