As BT and Sal discussed what a Mets fire sale would look like, they both agreed that the sensible move would be to look into trading Pete Alonso.
Sal wouldn't make that decision just yet, noting that it's only the middle of May, but BT said he would be on the phone right now, and would have no interest in bringing Alonso back long term.
"What does he do?" BT said. "He's one of the most overrated stars I've seen in this city in a long time. If he doesn't hit a home run, he's useless!
"He's a one dimensional player. He's 30 years old. He's a heavy-footed first baseman. I mean, what are we doing? This Pete Alonso nonsense is getting out of hand. There's superstars, there's stars, and then there's guys who just hit home runs. That's it."
