BT says Mets biggest problem right now is Steve Cohen: 'Not who or what you thought he would be'

As the Mets reach a new season low at six games below .500, BT says the team’s biggest problem isn’t in the field or the dugout.

He says the most glaring issues with the organization resides in the owner’s box.

“The way I see it…the biggest problem for the Mets right now is the owner, and that’s Steve Cohen,” BT said. “Steve Cohen is simply not who or what you thought he would be…it would have been great for New York. The first, second, and third thing we were all fed up and down was that he would bring in all or at least some of the big free agents. He’s got none. The one guy he brought in and gave a ridiculous contract to is basically half washed.

“The other day, when Steve Cohen said that the Mets are a playoff team, it tells me that he has no clue what he’s watching. Steve Cohen is a problem.”

Cohen was hoping for the Mets to be World Series contenders by this time in his tenure as owner, but right now, they are performing like a team that could miss the playoffs for a second year in a row, have a core that is underperforming or seemingly a shell of their former selves, and have some young players like Brett Baty that continue to cast doubt on their big league potential. BT says it goes back to the owner.

“What is the future? Nobody is doing anything! Nobody is having a good year in the minors. Look at the stats,” BT said. “They’re not even incrementally inching forward, which would be still almost unacceptable in year four. They’re going backwards!”
