Sal has long praised Buck Showalter as a manager, but you can't argue with the results on the field, and after a five-game losing streak and a sub-.500 record near mid-June, Sal is ready to say that Showalter's seat should at least be warming up.
"Merry Buckmas? That's over," Sal said. "Buck has to be on the hot seat here. I'm not saying he should be fired, but his seat should be warming up. Because that is not acceptable.
"The managerial spot here could be something we talk about down the road. I know people are talking about it now, but realistically, at the end of the year, if they don't make the playoffs, they can make a change there."
At the very least, Sal wants to start seeing some public frustration from the team's owner, letting the fanbase know that this current level of performance is unacceptable.
"We need a little tweet from Steve Cohen," Sal said. "They need some kind of something to figure out where he's at...but you know what he's gonna say. He can't say what he's really thinking.
"He has shown patience, discipline, and understand, as he's still learning here. Maybe at some point, that boils over, and instead of understanding and patience, you see frustration."
