C-Mac: Carlos Mendoza clearly has finger on pulse of Mets roster
Carlos Mendoza tweaked the Mets lineup once again on Wednesday night, moving Harrison Bader to the two spot in the order between Francisco Lindor and J.D. Martinez, and Bader responded by going 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI to pace the 10-4 victory.
For C-Mac, it was further evidence that the Mets manager has his finger on the pulse of the team, which is a good sign for the organization moving forward.
"When he makes a move, it tends to have an impact," C-Mac said. "He moves Lindor to the top of the order, and it seems to help a little bit.
"How good has Harrison Bader been? I understand what he is and what he isn't…he's as clutch as hitter as the Mets have had on the team."
Mendoza has heard his share of criticism in his first year as manager, considering the Mets are eight games below .500, but C-Mac says the new skipper is showing a strong sense of managing a lineup and clubhouse, and the Mets can at least take comfort in the fact that they hired a manager who has the traits of a successful leader.
"I've credited him and [David] Stearns with setting a standard, and setting some sort of level of play that you need to meet if you want to play," C-Mac said. "They've held players accountable.
"The little moves he's made, they tend to work…and I think he's made a smart move with [Edwin] Diaz too, making him the closer when he comes back."
