C-Mac: David Stearns should look to add Mets bullpen help ASAP

The Mets poured on six runs in the 10th inning against the Nationals on Monday night, but still had to sweat out a 9-7 victory in Washington as the bullpen struggled to lock down the win.

For C-Mac, the offense’s ability to temporarily blow the game open should inspire David Stearns to go out and buy at the deadline, and get a respectable bullpen to help a lineup that has become one of the best in baseball over the last few weeks.

“This bullpen is a serious problem,” C-Mac said. “The bullpen is awful. Now, over the last handful of games, it has really shown.

“I think this team has shown you enough. Look how they’ve battled. Look at how they fight. Get out there early and see if you can get someone.”

Getting Edwin Diaz back from suspension will help, but C-Mac says the Mets need more, and the team deserves more by getting themselves back in the race.

“We don’t know what kind of pitcher [Diaz] is gonna be when he returns from his 10-game absence,” C-Mac sad. “This bullpen…you don’t trust anyone to come in and really throw strikes. You can’t score six runs in the top of the 10th inning and have your reliever come in and walk the leadoff man. That is unacceptable.”
