David Stearns spoke with reporters on Monday, and said that there are many ways to define success when talking about the season ahead.
C-Mac found that to be a mound of "verbal garbage."
"The idea that the New York Mets and Steve Cohen, the richest owner in baseball…the idea that a president of baseball operations would tell you that there are 'a lot of different ways to describe success,' no there's not," C-Mac said. "There's one way to describe success.
"If you guys think you have entered the realm of the Yankees, the Dodgers…if you want to be one of the big guys, one of the big payroll teams…if you want to be one of those teams that are in the playoffs every year, there's one measure of success…it's winning. That's it."
The idea that the Mets, after sporting the highest payroll in league history, have now resorted to tweaking the definition of success, is something that C-Mac finds to be inexcusable.
"You cannot do an interview right as the season is about to start, and tell your fanbase…that there are many ways to judge success…that is a bunch of horse manure," C-Mac said. "That is verbal garbage."
