C-Mac believes David Stearns would 'prefer' to tear down Mets roster at deadline

C-Mac says there is reason to believe in the Mets as they continue to roll, but he says this upcoming stretch is still pivotal for the team to prove to the front office that they are a group worth investing in, or at least not breaking up at the trade deadline.

Because for C-Mac, he believes David Stearns would prefer to break things up at the end of July, and he would have to be proven otherwise to change his mind.

"They don't have a lot of time. In my opinion, this team has a GM that would probably prefer to break it down," C-Mac said. "He can't do it if they put themselves in a position to win. But they don't have three months….they have a few weeks here to really put themselves in a position where it doesn't make sense to trade away pieces in this rotation or J.D. Martinez, and it only makes sense to go for it because anything can happen.

"They have a brief moment here to put themselves in a position where the GM can't do what he wants."

The Mets are just 1.5 games out of a Wild Card spot, and while there are several teams to jump over, C-Mac says it is certainly possible for them to force Stearns to change the course that may already be mapped out in his mind.

"As much as I've been down on this team and still don't know how I feel about them, this brand of baseball that this team has been playing…why not the Mets?" C-Mac said. "Why not believe?"
