C-Mac says, at long last, Mets fans seem to be coming to believe what he has been saying all along, now that they heard it from David Stearns' mouth that you shouldn't expect much more spending this offseason.
"Finally, you Mets fans seem to be coming around…after [Wednesday], I think Mets fans are finally starting to realize that this team…this is it," C-Mac said. "I think he made it very clear that this offseason is pretty much over. They are not going to look to add another bat. They are probably done in the rotation, and maybe they will look into the bullpen.
"I think it makes no sense. I think this is a terrible decision not to get a Justin Turner or a J.D. Martinez…the fact of the matter is, this team needs another bat. The answers for this team are not there."
But Stearns said Wednesday that adding another bat isn't "essential" for the 2024 roster, and C-Mac says that is a joke of a response, and it has helped fans finally come around to the reality that the Mets are in the midst of a disastrous offseason.
"Stop telling me that you're trying to compose a competitive team," Stearns said. "You're not."
